At some point I decided I wanted to try running a marathon. Just kind of for the sake of trying. I had been thinking about a lot of the things I’ve decided to do in life up to this point, and how I’ve basically accomplished the vast majority of them so far. So it seemed like as good a time as any to try something completely different, with an actual element of risk in terms of complete failure, most of which will be completely my own fault if I do.
This is probably one of my poorer life decisions.
In order to keep track of my progress, I am keeping a journal of scribble comics and generic information like what I did that week and how far I went, along with other notes. This way I have a record for myself, and by making it public I’m more accountable to stick to my goal. Plus stupid scribble comics are fun.
Indulj (pronounced something like in-doo-ee) is a word I learned from a Hungarian friend which means “to start” in English. It’s become kind of a weirdo battle cry for various games online, i.e. “INDULJ THAT ITERON! INDULJ HARDER!” so I polled my friends for Pokemon suggestions, based mostly on starter Pokemon. I took that list of ideas and ran it through a random number generator to pick, and came up with Charmander. So I’ll be leveling Indulj the Charmander via Pokewalker as I level myself.
The stupid tumblr title comes from feeding the word “INDULJ” to a chatbot which creates random phrases. In this case, INDULJ HARDER YOU ARE LIMITLESS. Seemed like relevant motivational advice to me.
